IT Policies


IT Policy is a set of defined rules to outline how company users use the company network. IT policies allow companies to know what is allowed and not allowed on their networks and to maximize productivity. METHOD IT can design and implement your IT Policies to insure security and productivity. Some simple examples of policies are as following:
  • Network Perimeter Security - what firewall ports open for incoming from internet to DMZ
  • Email Policy - disclaimer and email attachment file types allowed to send outside the company
  • Archive Policy - all email to be archived every quarter and kept for 5 years
  • Web Access Policy - no access to facebook, adult content, YouTube, etc....
  • Internal Security - what company data is allowed outside the network, no ftp
  • Workstation Policy - list of approved software for each department, no software install by user, no USB keys, No CD write, etc.
  • Laptop/Mobile Policy - users must connect from home network by VPN (Virtual Private Network)
  • Update Policy - test update on Thursday at 7 PM to one workstation, distribute updates Friday at 7 PM
  • Redundancy and Fault-Tolerant Policy - if firewall dies, temporarily switchover to standby
